What does free actually mean here?
The desktop app is free with no word allowance, no trial clock, and no account. It is free, and there is no catch waiting later: no trial clock, no word count, no card, and no feature held back to make you pay.
It is also free on purpose. Formula Won Labs, the agency that makes Quickword, would rather introduce itself with a tool you use every day than with a pitch, so the app you install is the whole product and not a sample of one.
- No weekly word cap. For comparison, Wispr Flow's free tier stops at 2,000 words a week on desktop.
- No sign-up wall. Install and press the key.
- Nothing is held back to make you upgrade. What you install is the whole thing.

What does early access mean?
Quickword Pro is running for a small group while the syncing and the redo are proven on real machines. It costs nothing right now. When a price is set it will be published on this page before a single card is charged, and anyone already using it will be told before it changes.
- No card is collected today.
- No usage is being billed today.
- Syncing costs real money to run, so it will not be free forever, and pretending otherwise would be a lie you would find out about later.
- An allowance is being set for dictating on your phone and for recording meetings, because those two are the parts that cost money to run. The numbers go on this page before they apply to anyone, not after.

What do other dictation apps cost?
For context, and taken from the vendors' own pricing pages on 2026-09-04: Wispr Flow Pro is $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually. Superwhisper Pro is $8.49 a month, or $249.99 once for a lifetime licence. Willow Voice is $15 a month.

Is the free tier a trial?
No. There is no clock on it and no word count. If you never turn syncing on, you never see a payment screen.
Will the desktop app start charging later?
The app you install is the free tier and the plan is to keep it that way. The paid layer, when there is one, is the syncing.
Is there a lifetime licence?
Not today. There is nothing to buy yet.
Do I need a Quickword account to use it?
Only if you turn syncing on. The free app has no accounts at all.
What happens to my data if I stop paying, once there is something to pay for?
That answer will be written into this page before there is a price, not after.
