Quickword Pro, in early access
The app is free and always will be. Quickword Pro is the extra layer you switch on: one history every device reads, the ability to redo a dictation from the original recording, and the work done on our server instead of your computer, so an older laptop gets the same result as a fast one. It is early, it is free while it is early, and pricing will be announced before anything is charged.

What does Quickword Pro add to the free app?
One dictation history that every device you sign in on reads, instead of a separate list on each machine. It also lets you run a failed dictation again from the original recording, on a different device than the one that made it, and it moves the work off your own computer so an older laptop gets the same result as a fast one.

What happens to your recording when syncing is on?
With syncing on, the recording leaves your machine, is turned into text, is tidied up so it reads properly, and both the recording and the text are saved to your account. The recording is then deleted 14 days later by a job that runs every day, and the text stays in your history until you delete it yourself.

Can Quickword record a meeting and write it up?
Not yet. Leaving it running through a meeting and getting a readable transcript afterwards is the next thing being built. Charles is running it on two Android phones of his own and nowhere else, so it is not something you can switch on. Labelling which line belongs to which person is the step after that, measured once on one 31-minute recording and not built.
When it is ready it will be part of Quickword Pro. The people on the list below hear about it first, and nothing on this page is charged for.
Coming next means being built and tested. It does not mean nearly done, and there is no date on it.

How do I get into the Quickword Pro early access?
Leave your email below and you get one message when a slot opens, and nothing else in between. Quickword Pro is running for a small group while the syncing and the retry are proven on real machines rather than on one developer's desk, so slots open in batches rather than on demand. No card is asked for at any point.
Your address is stored so an invite can be sent to it. It is not sold, not added to a newsletter, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any time.

Common questions about Quickword Pro
Is Quickword Pro required?
No. The app works fully with syncing switched off, and off is how it installs. You can dictate for years without ever seeing a sign-in screen, because the free app does the whole job on your own computer. Pro exists for one thing, which is joining your devices up.
What will Quickword Pro cost?
Nothing during early access, and no card is asked for. A price will be published on the pricing page before anyone is charged, and anyone already using it will be told before it changes. An allowance is also being set for phone dictation and meeting recording, and those numbers land on that page before they apply.
Can I sync on one computer and stay private on another?
Yes. The setting is per computer rather than per account, so a work laptop can stay entirely private while a personal machine syncs. Nothing from the private machine reaches the server, and its history stays on that machine only, exactly as it would if you had never signed in anywhere.
What happens to my history if I stop syncing?
The history on each computer stays where it is and nothing is deleted from under you. Turning syncing off stops new dictations from being uploaded, and the ones already stored stay in your account until you delete them, which you can do one at a time or all at once.
